How I work
I believe in working with my clients, using all of my experience and knowledge of hypnosis techniques in a gentle and relaxing way – you are aware at all times.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis might seem like something you don’t know anything about, but you’ll already have done it naturally when you focus on a book, great sports event, or film or TV event.
Hypnotic trance is a natural state of mentally focussing, which makes it easy to communicate ideas to the part of the mind that helps make changes in your thoughts, feelings and habits. Jessica Ennis Hill gets “into the zone” – which is an example of mentally focussing.
It is also the part of the mind that influences various physiological systems, like your nervous and digestive systems.
Hypnosis is nothing to worry about
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis – you cannot be hypnotised against your will, and most people can be hypnotised because it is a skill that they already have.
My job is to make appropriate suggestions and give you tools to make things better using mindfulness and many other strategies.
What does being hypnotised feel like?
Being in an mindful hypnotic state just feels relaxing and very comfortable - like lying on a beach with nothing to do and no one to bother you, or luxuriating in a warm soak in the bath.
You are alert and aware of your surroundings and you are not giving me control – you are learning control. You are always in charge – you are just learning how to make the changes that you want.
